About
The Wake is an annual Halloween event produced in part by Nomad Arts and OM Agency. What started out as a massive house party in 2006 has progressively grown in breadth and acclaim, to become one of the most anticipated parties of the year in Dallas. At the core of the event is a large group of creative friends just enjoying the holiday! In the spotlight is a diverse array of talented local and national musicians, artists, and professional performers, entertaining large crowds of outrageous personalities and alter egos. To top the previous year, will always be our mission.
2006-2008
(undisclosed location)
75 people in 2006, grows to near 500 costumed partygoers in three years. Live music from local legends, Holy Diver, Hello Lover, STEW!, HawkVsDove, and multiple DJs, Disco Balls, Smoke machines, Artist Backdrops, and Candles, sprawling over a half city block. By year 2 the party was simply known as “The Party of Epic Legend”. In the last hours of 2008, moments prior to the much anticipated performance from Holy Diver…the fuzz arrives…threatening to shut down the party and issue heavy fines if the noise continues. Only one thing to do…Holy Diver turns their amps to full blast and opens with a cover of “Ace of Spades” by Motorhead. A truly Epic moment, and the birth of a much larger “legitimate” event.
